The Allgäu – a winter dream
The King’s Nook area is a fairytale landscape in winter. Perfect for numerous activities starting right at Brunnen Campground. Come and enjoy the perfectly groomed slopes where skiing is just as much fun as snowboarding. Our modern snowmaking facilities guarantee skiing and riding fun even in the spring. And starting in the winter season 2005/2006, our local Tegelberg mountain even offers night skiing thanks to the newly installed light system.
If you are in the area for the first time, why not book a ski or snowboard lesson and get a professional start to these wonderful activities. For your children there is a ski kindergarten, because we all know that it’s best to start young. No matter whether beginner or advanced, old or young, there is the perfect program for everybody.
For cross country skiers, there are many perfectly prepared tracks of various levels of difficulty all around Schwangau and Füssen, right in the proximity of the campground. And there is the new 2km (1.2mi) cross country ski trail below Neuschwanstein Castle with lights for night skiing. And of course there are possibilities for a snack and some après ski.
The area offers various possibilities to go ice skating. Furthermore, there is a natural curling track at the Lakes Alpsee, Schwansee and Bannwaldsee.
And of course the best activity for children, tobogganing, is possible from almost every hill in the area. If you like to go a little quicker, there are various natural tobogganing tracks in the local mountains waiting to be discovered. A hike to the Drehhütte mountain hut, for instance, is a perfect possibility to enjoy some traditional Bavarian mountain atmosphere including some alcoholic Jagertee and finish with a fast and curvy tobogganing run.
Snow tubing is great fun, too. You slide down the mountain on an inflated tube, there is a special lift in Pfronten that also rents Swedish Stiga Bob Slide luges.
If you would like to enjoy some truly traditional winter fun in the Allgäu, you can’t miss the Gunzesrieder Hornerrennen race.
If you prefer tranquillity to fun on the slopes, we are sure you will enjoy the numerous hiking possibilities, even in winter A well cleared network of hiking trails guarantees various possibilities to explore the scenery. You can also go on snowshoe tours of different duration and difficulty.
Or enjoy a romantic horse carriage ride through the snowy Allgäu forests and meadows. If you prefer sitting on a horse yourself, there are stables that offer guided rides not far from the campground.
And if the weather is bad…
nobody has to be afraid that it gets boring. Children will find enough possibilities to keep them entertained right on the campground.
| And there is always the tempting Royal thermal bath "Königliche Kristall-Therme" in Schwangau where you can relax and enjoy a great view of the mountains and Neuschwanstein Castle. There are sauna areas, a solarium, the saline spa and a lot more – and it is even healthy. What else could you ask for? |
